Trio of Artists at The David Strawn Art Gallery this November 🖼️

The Art Association of Jacksonville is thrilled to welcome a Trio of Talented Artists: Danny Brikshavana, Mario Clarke, and Rick Taylor to the David Strawn Art Gallery! 🖌️🌟 Located at 331 W. College Ave. in Jacksonville, IL, their doors are open and free for you to explore the incredible works of these creative minds.

🌿 Danny Brikshavana is an inspiring ceramic artist from Springfield, IL. He first encountered ceramics in the fall of 2014, and after learning traditional techniques in Japan, he infused his deep appreciation and passion for his Asian culture into his pottery. His pieces invite you to experience a sense of balance and wholeness, ranging from simple forms with elegant movement to intricately detailed works.

🪴 Mario Clarke is the resident blown glass instructor at the Springfield Art Association. He grew up in central Illinois and received his bachelors’ degree in graphic design and photography at Illinois State University in 2017. He returned to ISU as a Grad at Large to further his passion for glass blowing. His work consists of large scale figurative and abstract bodies of work. Clarke has traveled the country studying the art of glass blowing. He likes to explore the delicate balance between nature and craftsmanship by combining blown glass sculptures with rustic hedge wood. The blown glass he creates is adorned with thin white lines in an Italian merletto pattern, which mirrors the intricate lacework for which it is named.

🎨 Rick Taylor is a painter from Chatham, IL. He began painting in the early seventies and received a B.F.A. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Taylor has exhibited in galleries in Chicago, Saint Louis, and around the Midwest. Currently he is a member of the SAA Collective in Springfield. He works in a variety of medium from watercolor and oils to digital manipulation. Taylor considers his work to be organic Surrealism, similar to the work of people like Arshile Gorky, Joan Miró, and Yves Tanguy.

Gallery hours are November 3-30: Tuesday-Saturday 4-6 p.m. and Sundays 1-3 p.m. .
