Central Park is located in the center of the city’s historic downtown. A beautiful Civil War monument highlights this area of constant activity. Two Looking for Lincoln wayside exhibits explain Lincoln’s connection to the heart of the city, including an early reference to his presidency. The park also includes the Charters of Freedom display (Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights) and a Civil War cannon. Be sure to check out the locally made Ferris Wheel seats, repurposed as park benches.
