Ravens and Tombstones: An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe

October 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

With Halloween almost upon us, who better to spend an evening with than that master of the macabre Edgar Allan Poe? In this 90-minue program Robert Seufert portrays Poe and Sherri Mitchell assumes the role of Poe’s beloved wife Virginia Clemm under her various fictional guises as Eulalie, Ligeia, Lenore, Ulalume, and Annabel Lee.

The program focuses on Poe’s poetry, using the poems to trace Poe’s chronological and psychological development, from his early days on his foster father’s Richmond, Virginia, estate to his years in the U. S. Army and West Point to his tenure as a writer and editor for several prestigious literary magazines to his final days as a grieving widower, pining for his lost happiness with Virginia.

The program will take place in the Jacksonville Public Library’s meeting room at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
