Nativity Lane
December 17, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The public is invited to experience a drive-thru nativity lane highlighting the major moments of the Christmas story. Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, also known as Point Church, is pleased to present this event for the Jacksonville area community again in 2023.
The drive-thru experience will take place two evenings: Sunday, December 17 and Monday, December 18 from 5:30-7:30. To get to the church from Jacksonville, take Morton Avenue 3 miles west on Old Route 36. (GPS address: 1447 Merritt Road, Jacksonville, IL)
At Merritt Road, cars will be asked to dim their headlights, drive slowly, and experience various scenes of the Christmas story depicted by live actors. It’s the perfect family-friendly event to combine with an evening of looking at Christmas lights or caroling with friends.
Audra Nelson, the event coordinator, said the church is busy making preparations. “We have been working on installing lighting, refurbishing signs, and building new sets and costumes. It takes dozens of volunteers from the church and community to pull-off an event of this size, and we are grateful to all those who are helping us make this event extra special!”
The church has presented a living nativity for over two decades. “We are so happy to bring this wonderful event back in 2023,” says Pastor Becky Williams. “The church has been doing the event for many years, and wanted to once again make it available for the public to enjoy as we approach the Christmas holiday.”
The church invites everyone to experience this magical event during the holiday season!
