Morgan County HCE Annual Meeting

June 18 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The Morgan County HCE will hold its Annual Meeting at the Morgan County Extension Office, 104 N. Westgate, Jacksonville, on Thursday, June 19. Registration and a time of fellowship with breakfast treats will be held from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. followed by the business meeting and a special program recognizing the 90th Anniversary of the organization. Former members are especially invited and guests are welcome to come “Experience the Magic of HCE”. No advance reservations are needed.

On March 5, 1936 a meeting was held at the old Farm Bureau Hall in Jacksonville to begin organizing “Home Bureau” in Morgan County. By September 25, 1936 the group already had 345 members in 21 units. In the early 1960’s the name was changed to the Morgan County Homemakers Extension Association and eventually to Morgan County Association for Home and Community Education or “HCE”. Whatever their name the organization has focused on educational programs, leadership skills and community service.

Karen Cahill, IAHCE District 2 Director, will install our new officers and give an update on the current activities of IAHCE. Members with perfect attendance, 50-year + members, and volunteers will be recognized. In addition, these members who passed away since our last annual meeting will be remembered.

Long-time HCE members and former extension staff members will share memories. There will be a style show featuring fashions throughout the decades. Following the meeting those present will enjoy a finger food luncheon.

HCE enhances the lives of individuals and families through educational programs and experiences, encouraging responsible leadership, and providing service to the community. All current and former HCE members are encouraged to attend. Guests and potential members are welcome.
