Please join the Jacksonville Public Library in welcoming Kate Penney Howard, Genetic Genealogist and Speaker.  She has presented at Rootstech, East Coast Genetic Genealogy Conference, Illinois Genealogical Society, the International Congress on Medieval Studies, NAAP/RTK’s Untangling Our Roots, and the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Future speaking engagements include Rootstech 2025 and Ohio Genealogical Society 2025, as well as local library & genealogical society presentations. Kate will be presenting her program, Facts and Fables: Crafting Your Family Narrative via Zoom. 

From deciphering the truth behind mythical ancestors to understanding the significance of half-remembered tales, Kate will grapple with the importance of preserving family stories. By addressing the challenge of reconciling truth and myth within family histories, Kate will empower attendees to shape their family’s identity with clarity and integrity, discerning fact from fiction, and preserving the essence of their heritage while embracing the complexities of their ancestral past.
