The G.V. Black District Dental Society is hosting a 190th birthday celebration for Greene Vardiman Black, the Father of Modern Dentistry, who practiced in Jacksonville for 30 years in the 19th century.

The event will begin at Hamilton’s on Friday, July 31st, at 5:00 PM with a prime rib dinner and guest speaker highlighting the life and times of this famous native son. The evening will conclude with a special showing of the new exhibit featuring G.V. Black at the Jacksonville Area Museum.

Along with dentists, local non-dentists and history buffs are invited to celebrate.
