The Art Association of Jacksonville is pleased to present Tracey Maras & Scott Day to The David Strawn Art Gallery October 4-26th.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 4th from 6-8 pm with “Gallery Talk” by the artists at 6:30 pm.

Pastel painter Tracey Maras currently resides in Dawson, Illinois. Her inspiration for her paintings is the natural forces that drive the world around us; the ground we stand upon, the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the fire that warms us. For Tracey, her process begins with the limitless inspiration from nature; from sunrises to the dark of the night; from sunny skies to thunderstorms; from towering trees to a dew drop on a flower; from a majestic elephant to a frog the size of a fingertip.

Ceramic artist Scott Day currently resides in Springfield, Illinois. Nature also drives his passion for exploring natural forms through wheel thrown works. Scott’s pieces are a unique combination of traditional pottery forms and organic design, revealed through the application of textured surfaces and colorful glazes. His work is intended to evoke in viewers a connection to and appreciation of the natural environment by reflecting the intricate balance between controlled and organic. Scott’s goal is to create pots that both satisfy his passion and bring joy to those who encounter them.
