On Friday, September 26 at 7:00pm, Moore will speak at Illinois College’s Rammelkamp Chapel for an author talk and book signing event, specifically discussing her book The Woman They Could Not Silence and its history regarding Illinois’ first state hospital for the insane, started in Jacksonville in 1847.

Just imagine—it’s 1860 in Illinois and Elizabeth Packard, a housewife and mother of six, finds herself locked up in an insane asylum in Jacksonville, IL just because she disagreed with her husband.
